Guest Wireless LAN

Guests visiting SIT from outside the university for academic research and education with our full-time faculties are provoded with an internet connection environment via our wireless LAN facilities. Full-time faculties can arbitrarily distribute accounts (up to 10 accounts) to the guests for the internet connection.

1.Send an email with the following required information. *Please apply at least 2 weeks before using the account.

2.After deliberation by the Network Committee, we will allow you to distribute the accounts by e-mail.

Cautions Use in accordance with the Terms of Service.
Guests can not connect to the SIT network.
You can check your account application and issuance status on the AMI.
Please manage your account appropriately. For example, an account that is finished to use is immediately suspended.
If you suspect unauthorized use of the account, please immediately contact Informational Innovation Section and suspend it.
If the system detects unauthorized use,Informational Innovation Section may suspend the account.

Guest Network Operation Procedure

Enacted on May 24, 2021

 

(General provisions)

Article 1 : This operational procedure stipulates necessary matters regarding the guest network connection service (hereinafter referred to as "the Service") provided by the Academic Information Center in accordance with Article 9 of the Operational Bylaws of the Academic Information Center of Shibaura Institute of Technology.

(Purpose of Use)

Article 2 : This service is limited to use for academic research, education, and corporate business.

(Service Contents)

Article 3.1 : The Service shall provide a connection to the Guest Network through which theGuest can access the Internet.

Article 3.2 : The Guest Network provides a connection to the Internet, and does not permit communication to the inside of SITNET, which cannot be connected from the Internet.

(Form of Provision of the Service)

Article 4 : The Service shall be provided in the following forms

(1) Wireless LAN (with authentication by guest account

(2) Wired LAN (with authentication by guest account)

(3) Wired LAN (without anthentication by guest account)

(Application for Use)

Article 5.1 : Full-time faculty and staff of the University may apply to use the Service.

Article 5.2 : The Academic Information Center shall deliberate on whether or not to use the Service.

Article 5.3 : In the case of issuing a guest account as specified in Article 6, the deliberation may be skipped.

(Guest Account)

Article 6.1 : An applicant for the Guest Network (hereinafter referred to as "Applicant") shall issue a Guest Account to a Guest in order to authenticate the Guest.

Article 6.2 : The Applicant shall clarify the purpose of the Guest's use when issuing a Guest Account.

Article 6.3 : The maximum period of validity of a Guest Account shall be one year.

Article 6.4 : The maximum number of guest accounts to be issued is 10, and if more are required, the Information System Division will issue them in batches.

Article 6.5 : The Applicant shall strictly manage the issued guest accounts.

(Usage Management)

Article 7 : The Applicant shall take care of the appropriate use of the guest network by guests.

Article 8.1 : The authentication and  access of guests on the guest network shall be recorded.

Article 8.2 : When an incident is discovered or reported on the guest network, SIT-CSIRT shall take action, and report, investigate, and share information with relevant organizations outside the university as necessary.

(Terms of Use)

Article 9.1 : The use of this service shall be permitted to guests who agree to this operational procedure.

Article 9.2 : The Applicant shall be responsible for ensuring that the guests comply with these operational procedures.

(Prohibited Matters)

Article 10 : Prohibit the following acts through the Service.

(1) Use of the Service for any purpose other than those defined in Article 2.

(2) Lending a guest account to a person other than the authorized guest.

(3) Use of the same Guest Account by multiple users.

(4) Acts of defamation, slander, discrimination, insult, violation of human rights, or harassment.

(5) Infringement of personal information, privacy, or portrait rights.

(6) Acts that violate intellectual property rights.

(7) Actions that violate confidentiality obligations.

(8) Acts that constitute political, religious, or profit-making activities

(9) Transmitting false information

(10) Acts that constitute unauthorized access

(11) Acts that interfere with the operation of the information system environment

(12) Other acts that violate laws, regulations, and social practices

(Suspension of Guest Account)

Article 11 : In the event that the Publisher or Guest falls under any of the following, the Academic Information Center may immediately suspend the use of the relevant Guest Account.

(1) If the guest has committed an act that falls under the prohibited items.

(2) In any other cases where the Academic Information Center deems the guest or applicant to be inappropriate.

(Miscellaneous)

Article 12 : In addition to what is specified in this operational procedure, the procedures for using and applying for the service shall be specified separately.

(Revision and abolition of operational procedures)

Article 13 : The revision or abolition of this operational procedure shall be deliberated at the meeting of the Academic Information Center.

Supplementary Provisions

These operational procedures takes effect on June 1, 2021.
